Practice Training Contract / Relevant Legal Training

Robert Wang & Woo LLP recruits practice trainees with a view to offering them employment as associates after their admission to the Singapore Bar. We therefore take practice training seriously and invest in the development of each of our practice trainees.

Law graduates from Singapore universities will undergo 6 months of training with the Firm after sitting for their Part B of the Singapore Bar examinations. Law graduates from recognised foreign universities will on the other hand, be required to sit for both Part A and Part B of the Singapore Bar examinations, before undergoing 6 months of training after each of the examinations, making it an aggregate of 12 months’ training with the Firm.

During their practice training, trainees will as far as possible be assigned to a practice group of their choice, and will be supervised by a Partner in that practice group. Under the mentorship of their supervising Solicitor, trainees will have first-hand experience in the work that the Firm’s practice group does and can expect to receive a very “hands-on”, holisitic training during their time with the Firm, and will experience first-hand the rigours of legal practice. In order to provide trainees with maximum exposure, trainees will also be given the opportunity to receive training in other practice groups midway through their training period. At the end of their practice training, trainees should have been exposed to at least 2 of the following practice areas:

  • Corporate and Commercial

  • Real Estate

  • Litigation & Dispute Resolution

Benefits

Currently, Robert Wang & Woo LLP pays its trainees an honorarium of S$2,000 per month during their practice training with the Firm. However, the amount may vary, depending on the prior experience of the trainee.
