Nick Ong is a co-founding Partner of the LLP, and Head of the Business Practice Group.

He started his legal career as a civil litigator dealing with a wide variety of practice areas such as contractual and shareholder disputes, matrimonial proceedings, insurance, shipping and construction law before finding his passion and niche in corporate and commercial work. In pursuit of his passion, he joined an SGX-listed group with varied business interests, ranging from property and hotel development and management to hospitality and specialty restaurants as a legal counsel. He worked closely with the various directors and management team on areas such as project development and administration, legal and corporate compliance matters, acquisitions and disposals and special projects.

Since joining the Firm in 2007, he has been actively involved in capital markets and corporate advisory work. Apart from the routine fund raising exercises such as rights issues and private placements, he has also been involved in cross-border corporate transactions for acquisitions in fields such as renewable energy, mining and resources, shipping and other types of business assets. These acquisitions span countries such as Australia, Bolivia, China, Ghana, Malaysia and Indonesia. He recently advised on an acquisition of 100% of an ASX-listed company with diamond mines located in the Northern Territories, Australia. The deal was valued in excess of S$70 million.

He also advises on corporate matters such as the setting up of joint ventures and the structuring of commercial ventures. He also supervises the setting-up of companies and businesses, routine corporate compliance and secretariat matters.

Nick also advises on intellectual property matters including trademarks and copyrights.
